The Kaduna State Government has presented an award to the winner of the Kaduna Bus Rapid Transit (KBRT) brand naming competition, officially unveiling “Kaduna Connect” as the new brand identity for the state’s flagship urban transport project.
The award ceremony, held in Kaduna, marked the conclusion of a public competition initiated to encourage citizen participation and ownership in the KBRT project. The competition attracted entries from residents across the state, reflecting strong public interest in the transformation of Kaduna’s urban transport system.
Speaking at the event, officials praised the commitment of the Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, for his leadership and sustained investment in reforming and modernising the transport sector. They noted that the KBRT project is a clear demonstration of the Governor’s vision to improve mobility, enhance safety, and support economic activity across the state.
The Director General of Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority (KADSTRA), Engr. Inuwa Ibrahim explained that the brand name Kaduna Connect captures the core purpose of the KBRT project as a system designed to link people, communities, and economic centres through a reliable, affordable, and efficient public transport network.
The winner of the competition, Khalipha Abdulkadir Hurana, a 400-level medical student at the Kaduna State University, was presented with a plaque of recognition and a cash prize in appreciation of the contribution. In a brief remark, the winner expressed gratitude to the Kaduna State Government for the opportunity to participate in a project of such importance to the state.
The Kaduna Bus Rapid Transit project is supported by the French Development Agency (AFD) and is being implemented by the Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority (KADSTRA) as the Implementing Agency of the project. The initiative forms a key part of Kaduna State’s broader urban mobility and infrastructure development agenda, aimed at reducing traffic congestion, improving road safety, and providing dependable mass transit services.
